Picture Lake Path

Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Washington

If you find yourself traveling along the Mount Baker Highway, be sure to stop and stretch your legs along the 0.5-mile Picture Lake Path, located at milepost 54.1, just below the Mount Baker Ski Lodge—and don’t be surprised if the scenery looks familiar. That incredibly beautiful mountain reflecting in the still waters of the aptly named Picture Lake is Mount Shuksan—a scene found on thousands of calendars and postcards around the world—a light bulb should appear over your head at this point, representing the realization that you should bring your camera.

A trailhead kiosk allows the hiker to acquaint themself with the trail’s route, which basically circumnavigates the lake via a boardwalk/paved surface. In addition to the boardwalk, a small dock provides the perfect place to set up a tripod—now its your turn to capture the idyllic scene.
